★★☆☆☆ A fading star in the pastry world There was a time when people would line up around the block for a Lafayette croissant — it had *that* level of buzz. Sadly, those glory days seem to be behind us. I recently stopped by and tried the **blueberry croissant**, hoping for even a glimpse of what made this place so iconic. It was... okay. Not bad, but definitely not memorable — and certainly not worth going out of your way for. The croissant lacked the flaky, buttery magic it once had, and the filling didn’t do much to redeem it. It felt more like a shadow of its former self than a signature pastry from a once-hyped bakery. The coffee was fine — nothing to complain about, but also nothing that stood out. All in all, a disappointing return to what used to be one of NYC’s must-visit pastry spots. Here’s hoping Lafayette finds its spark again.
